Bogotá, D.C., August the 13th, 2021. As an incentive to the publishing sector to promote the work by Colombian authors and publishers abroad, the Ministry of Culture, the National Library of Colombia and the Colombian Book Chamber, launch the 3rd edition of the Reading Colombia, with the co-financing program for the translation and promotion of the Colombian literary and scientific works in foreign languages.
The main goal is to promote the internationalization of the Colombian publishing sector and to disseminate the works of national authors in other countries. Thanks to this project, founded in 2018, 22 incentives have been awarded for the translation of 18 Colombian works into six languages in the markets of Canada, Denmark, Egypt, United States, Italy and Turkey, where Colombian authors have been read since.
For this version, 10 incentives will be awarded to works of non-fiction and fiction (novel, history, poetry, theater, children’s & YA literature, etc.) of $9,000,000 COP ($2,420 USD each) and 10 incentives for children’s literature or short publications of $4,500,000 COP ($1,210 USD each). These values are subject to the withholdings of law and are based in the Colombian peso.
