From August the 10th to December the 1st 2021, or until incentives are depleted, interested publishers may participate by sending the application to: <\/em><a href=\"mailto:programacion@camlibro.com.co\"><em>programacion@camlibro.com.co<\/em><\/a><\/li>\n<li><em>For this new version, 20 incentives in total are available. Ten will be given to works of non-fiction and fiction of $9,000,000 COP (around $2,420 USD for each grant) and other ten incentives for children&#8217;s literature or short publications of $4,500,000 COP ($1,210 USD each). <\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Thanks to the Reading Colombia more than 22 incentives have been awarded, from 2018 to date, to 18 titles translated into 6 languages.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>As an incentive to the publishing sector to promote the work by Colombian authors and publishers abroad, the Ministry of Culture, the National Library of Colombia and the Colombian Book Chamber, launch the 3<sup>rd<\/sup> edition of the Reading Colombia, with the co-financing program for the translation and promotion of the Colombian literary and scientific works in foreign languages.<\/p>\n<p>The main goal is to promote the internationalization of the Colombian publishing sector and to disseminate the works of national authors in other countries. Thanks to this project, founded in 2018, 22 incentives have been awarded for the translation of 18 Colombian works into six languages in the markets of Canada, Denmark, Egypt, United States, Italy and Turkey, where Colombian authors have been read since.<\/p>\n<p>For this version, 10 incentives will be awarded to works of non-fiction and fiction (novel, history, poetry, theater, children&#8217;s &amp; YA literature, etc.) of $9,000,000 COP ($2,420 USD each) and 10 incentives for children&#8217;s literature or short publications of $4,500,000 COP ($1,210 USD each). These values are subject to the withholdings of law and are based in the Colombian peso.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Important facts to participate<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Works of non-fiction and fiction (novel, short story, poetry, essay, theater, children&#8217;s &amp; YA literature, etc.) must be published in Spanish and their author must be Colombian.<\/li>\n<li>January 2010 to July 2021 editions only.<\/li>\n<li>Up to two titles by applicant are allowed.<\/li>\n<li>Up to 3 co-financing incentives can be awarded by title.<\/li>\n<li>Does not apply to educational textbooks, tourist guides, self-publishing projects, or those in which the author is also the translator.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Who can apply?<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Formally constituted for-profit foreign publishers. The Directorate of Strategy, Development and Entrepreneurship of the Ministry of Culture, the National Library of Colombia, and the Colombian Book Chamber, announced the extension of the call to participate in Reading Colombia -the co-financing program for translation and promotion of the literary and scientific Colombian works in foreign languages- until <strong>December 6, 2021, or until the incentives are depleted.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>They announced as well that, due to lack of applications for the 10 scholarships of $4,500,000 COP, a total of 15 incentives will be awarded, each for <strong>$9,000,0000 COP*<\/strong> to non-fiction and fiction works (novels, short stories, poetry, theater, children\u2019s and YA literature, etc.).
