\nAt the southmost end of our planet, there is a mysterious territory unknown to humans during most of their history: Antarctica. Now, more than a century after humans arrived at the South Pole, Antarctica has become a center of research, where experts come every year from all over the world to develop scientific studies to understand our world and the universe. The Colombian astrophysicist Juan Diego Soler was one of them. In 2010, he landed for the first time on that frozen land, supported by NASA and United States National Science Foundation (NSF), to launch into the stratosphere a robotic telescope propelled by a helium balloon to look at the origin of the stars. This is his story and that of the adventurers that reached for what has been called the last place on Earth.<\/p>\n

Author of two chronicle books, his journalistic works have been published in some anthologies. He studied film script at Escuela Internacional de Cine y Television in San Antonio de los Ba\u00f1os, Cuba.
