Summary
A trip to the beach will determine the future of a young couple whose relationship is in turmoil, even though they are united by friends in common and their two pets. Will they stay together despite their differences, or will they succumb to their incompatibility?

Irene and Pablo live in a remote house in the in the Colombian altiplano. Pablo is older than his wife, for whom the only way to live is joyfully. The two face a terrible loss when Gabriel, Pablo’s only son, passes away. Irene convinces Pablo to travel to the coast, to a city forgotten by humanity, numb from the comings and goings of oil extractivism that have turned it into an artificial ruin. Irene knows that love cannot solve everything, but also that we must bury our dead. In his grief, Pablo, succumbs to alcoholism, and his newly white hair waves in the wind. Irene is sustained by the strength of her unconditional love for someone who no longer wants anything at all. The two characters walk their strange path towards liberation from suffering through love and surrender.

Author´s biography

Andrea Mejía. Andrea Mejía got a degree in Literature from the University of Andes and a Ph.D. from the National University of Colombia. This writer has been a professor of Political Sciences and Philosophy, as well as a guest professor at UNAM in Mexico and a columnist for the newspaper Criterio. So far, she has published the books The Nature Kept Spreading in Darkness (Tusquets, 2018), The Road Will Be A Terrible Ending (Tusquets, 2020) and Stillness (La navaja suiza, 2022).
